Riders against Racism
At the nexus of social justice and outdoor recreation.
At the nexus of social justice and outdoor recreation.
We are bikers and outdoor athletes that believe everyone should have equal access to the outdoors. We recognize the we can't solve the problem until we admit there is a problem, and the problems is the outdoors has been very, very white. We are Riders Against Racism (RAR) and strive to diversify the outdoors.
Reading How To Be An Antiracist
by Ibram Kendi in the summer of 2020 resulted in some soul searching and passionate conversations between family, friends, colleagues and anyone willing to listen. This book helped us realize that talking about racism openly and honestly is important for the outdoor community.
Our mission is to create a community of antiracist mountain bikers, snowboarders, climbers, surfers and hikers. We raise awareness about the lack of diversity and inclusion in outdoor recreation while working as a team to fight racist policies. We raise money for marginalized groups and help outdoor athletes connect to a larger purpose.
Thank you so much for visiting our site. We hope you will consider becoming a part of our mission to be antiracists. Learn more about our organization, our first fundraising event for the Washoe Tribe, and our current fundraising efforts..
